RELEASE BRIEF: The Nike and Jordan Brand Oregon Ducks and Georgetown Hoyas Hyper Elite Camo Basketball Sets

By way of NIKE, Inc:

When the University of Oregon and Georgetown University meet to tip-off the 2013-2014 college basketball season on Friday, Nov. 8th, they will do so at Camp Humphreys, a U.S. Army base in South Korea, as part of the Armed Forces Classic. While at Camp Humphreys, the teams will participate in a variety of activities including serving troops at a dining facility, conducting youth clinics for military families, holding open practices and touring the Pyeongtaek base.

This match-up continues the Armed Forces themed tournament legacy following last year’s game between Michigan State and University of Conneticut in Germany and Michigan State versus North Carolina held aboard the USS Carl Vinson in the San Diego Harbor in 2011.

To pay tribute to the military, both schools will be dressed in camouflage-print Nike Hyper Elite uniforms – the brand’s most advanced system of dress and lightest basketball uniform ever produced.

In addition to the distinct camouflage patterns and superior weight reduction, the game uniforms feature unique embellishments. An American flag prominently sits on the left side of of the chest above the heart on each jersey, while the name plate on the back bears the letters “U.S.A”. for Oregon and “RESPECT” for Georgetown, instead of the player’s last name.

The camouflage design extends through the entire system of dress including the footwear. Oregon will have the option of wearing the Nike Hyperdunk or the KD VI, while Georgetown will be wearing the AIR JORDAN XX8 SE in a matching camo print.

The game will be played in the Army’s Humphries Community Fitness Center.

PREMIERE: ADIDAS UNVEILS NEW UNIFORM FOR SIX COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS

adidas_NCAA Uniforms

PORTLAND, Ore. (February 28, 2013) – adidas today unveils the new eye-catching adizero uniform system for six of its collegiate teams to wear during the 2013 NCAA basketball postseason. The uniforms feature adidas’ most advanced uniform technologies and a limited-edition camouflage print designed to make an impact on the court.

Baylor University, University of California Los Angeles and University of Louisville will wear the groundbreaking adizero short sleeve uniform system debuted earlier this month by the Golden State Warriors, and University of Cincinnati, University of Kansas and University of Notre Dame will wear the adizero sleeveless uniform system.

“The adizero uniform system gives players the leading performance technology with a distinctive on-court style,” said Chris McGuire, adidas Director of Sports Marketing. “The NCAA postseason brings together the best teams in the country and these uniforms celebrate the excitement of the game letting players stand out during college basketball’s biggest moments. These programs will wear the most innovative basketball uniforms and footwear to help them elevate their game during the most important time of the year.”

Designed for a bold on-court look and engineered to enhance player performance by improving fit, comfort and mobility, the adizero short sleeve uniform system is made from 60 percent recycled materials and features FORMOTION technology for comfort and maximum mobility during shooting and dribbling. Jersey armhole insets with 360-degree stretch fabric promote free range of motion for the arms and shoulders.

Both sets of uniforms feature adidas’ quick drying Revolution 30 technology found in current NBA uniforms and ClimaCool zones which move heat and moisture away from the body to keep the jersey light and dry during heavy sweating. The super-lightweight woven short is designed for improved breathability and a closer, more comfortable fit with compression base layers.

The adizero uniform system features the latest adidas Team Speed sock with built-in compression for stability and CLIMALITE moisture wicking technology designed to keep the foot cool, light and dry throughout the game. Players will wear the adidas Crazy Fast basketball shoe with a new SPRINTWEB design that features tighter panels on the upper to improve support, reduce weight and make players quicker and more comfortable on the court.

The uniform’s limited-edition design and coloring is created for this season’s NCAA basketball postseason run. The impact camo pattern is designed to let players stand out on college basketball’s biggest stage, while patches on the jersey backs feature school specific detailing to pay homage to team spirit and pride. Teams will suit up in the adizero uniform systems beginning with conference tournament play March 13-17. Fans can pick up team gear on March 1 at adidas.com and campus bookstores.
