RELEASE: Reebok Classic Pump Pay Dirt

Pump Paydirt

A personal and noted favorite of Sandy Dover Creative.

Press release as follows, courtesy of Reebok:

Reebok Classic brings back a trophy straight from the locker room, the Pump Pay Dirt OG.

The first ever cross training shoe to feature Pump technology, the Reebok Classic Pump Pay Dirt was originally released in 1992 as part of the Preseason pack worn by NFL and MLB greats alike.

Tough enough for the field with enough style for the street, the Pump Pay Dirt OG remains one of the most durable kicks in the game with an armor-like cage surrounding the upper, a mid-foot strap, speckled midsole, and Classic Pump technology for a custom fit.

Adidas' Springblade Looking to Transform the Art of Running

The form seems perfect.

Formed cleanly in silhouette, lines streaming along the length of the shoe. Vented mesh zones in high contrast colors and those timeless stripes in three. It looks like something The Jetsons might have worn. It looks like it was crafted without flaw – not that it is perfect, but that it’s so flawless in shape that perfection is a default condition.

And then you look at those blades. …

Limited Release of FILA's FX-100 Make TMNT Fans Green with Envy

No one thinks of the FX-100. Fair enough, though, it held its own in the 1980s, when other footwear known by names such as “Air Force” and “Weapon” were the status quo by design, and then FILA brought back its own classic in green. The color green – sadly, people don’t always respond to green, but when there’s a connection made to the famed animated franchise “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, can you really ignore that? …

DoctorInsole, Orthotics for the Stars, is a Winner for Feet

by Sandy Dover for Yahoo!

One of the most underappreciated aspects of a shoe is its insides. The sole gets shine, the upper of the shoe always sees the light of day, the laces – even the tongue is given visual credence, but the internal construction, the footbed, that is what gives a shoe its true due. Without the reliability of the insole, a shoe is worthless in fit. It can look pretty, but if it doesn’t have that performance, the necessary comfort and gait guidance, a shoe is merely an artifact. Almost good for nothing.

FEATURE: Is The d rose 3 Series Actually ‘The Return’ of adidas Basketball?

2012-10-13 14.38.27

by Sandy Dover for Yahoo!

Derrick Rose, the All-Star point guard of the Chicago Bulls, has become one of the most polarizing figures in sports. After suffering a devastating knee injury in the 2012 NBA Playoffs, Rose has yet to play a game, despite being medically cleared. While this had led to its own kind of controversy regarding an athlete’s choice to play when returning from injury, there has been no dispute about his shoes.

The d rose 3 series (as stylized by adidas) has been a hit on and off the court. Both Rose’s regular season shoe, the d rose 3, and his postseason shoe, the d rose 3.5, have been ubiquitous and are leading sneakers in the basketball world.

Fortunately, I can testify to the strength of the shoe, having gotten my paws on the d rose 3 and was able to evaluate and study the shoe at my leisure, and they are very impressive. I can strongly say that the d rose 3 shoe is probably the best basketball shoe in adidas history, as far as performance is concerned, and I will tell you how I came to that conclusion.

TSL Co-Sign: Jordan Brand’s 2013 Playoffs PE Lineup

by Sandy Dover for The Shadow League

Every year, The Greatest Of All-Time (nee Michael Jordan) brought it on the court when the NBA Playoffs arrived. And every year he played, he made sure his feet brought it in the postseason, too.

MJ hasn’t been seen in the Playoffs for 15 whole years now, but that hasn’t stopped him from keeping his footwear legacy alive. With the help of some of the best players of today (and yesterday), Brand Jordan has given a special touch to some of the finest sneakers in the Brand’s history (with a player exclusive touch). …
